Environmental Allergies

No
one should have to live with runny noses, sneezing, and itchy, red, watery eyes when enjoying the outdoors,
playing with a pet, or cleaning their home. At BYAA, we take you from being trapped by symptoms to free to
experience life to the fullest.

Testing

The first step is finding out what you’re allergic to so we can treat you properly.
Our team may use one or more of these methods:
Skin prick testing
Allergens are scratched onto the skin and your body’s reaction is
evaluated (no needles used). We test for for plants, mold, pets, insects, and food. To learn about food allergy testing, click here
Intradermal testing
Allergens are injected into the skin and the injection site is
checked for reactions.
In Clinic Bloodwork
We perform in clinic blood draws on patients 18 months and up.

Treatment

If you test positive, we offer a variety of treatments that teach
your body not to react to those allergens.
Allergy Shots
Allergy shots are the most effective treatment against environmental allergies. The treatment process involves a buildup phase where you come to the clinic for weekly injections while your body builds up a tolerance to its allergens before you reach “maintenance”.
Sublingual Immunotherapy (Allergy Drops)
Allergy drops also work to reduce or eliminate symptoms and involve holding allergen containing drops under the tongue. It’s a needle free treatment that takes less time to complete but provides lower levels of immunity than allergy shots.

Freedom

To ensure your treatment results last a lifetime:
Maintenance
Once you’re finished with weekly injections, you’ll enter “maintenance” where you’ll come in monthly for about five years. This ensures that you maintain your results.
*Please note that large time gaps between injection appointments can result in loss of results and a need to restart treatment
Lasting Results
People who go through allergy shot treatment report greatly reduced symptoms and antihistamine intake.
